Learn Color Mixing: How to do it properly
Partially Color Mixing
Mixing the colors briefly as a pro is key here since working with acrylic is tougher as compared to the others. Mixing the colors at once on the palette will thicken it up and dry them as well. Though, mixing the color briefly and directly on the canvas will add the descriptive color scheme to it. Additionally, subtle and soft turns expecting a continuous variation make it a fun thing to do. To understand color mixing well try out our guide on the psychology of color mixing. (Pro version of beginner painter inside you will be out soon… WINK!)

Optical Mixing
Applying the colors in individual hits and eye will perceive it as green. Yes, the optical illusion is the theory that optical mixing works on. If you apply two different layers of colors simultaneously, then the green will come out. Following a specific pattern or step of painting colors on one other will not give but some other color lying on the top will be highlighted.

Thank you so much for including my painting in your article! Very cool. If you could though, I think the source linked below my painting is incorrect, it takes you to a Pinterest page for sea turtles. If you could link it to my Etsy listing, that’d be awesome 🙂 https://www.etsy.com/listing/270124752/whimsical-firefly-mason-jar-acrylic
