All you can do for this technique is use a bottle especially meant for misting and spray water onto your painting whenever and wherever needed.

Glazing:
This is also a very interesting project of using a matte medium with acrylic paint to create beautiful scenes. You will have to paint thin layers of colors for building the color until it looks rich.

Mix Colors Before Painting:
When you are mixing colors, instead of completely mixing the two colors, first try to give it a brief mix with your palette knife. Now you should use this partially mixed colors to paint. You will see that the colors are mingling with each other from your work surface.
